Saving For Sunny Days To Grow Our Family

My husband and I met at college when my best friend introduced us. She told me years later that when she saw him in one of her classes she knew he was perfect for me. When we went on our first date we both realized that we were soul mates and could see a family in the future. I always saw him as the father of my children even in the first stages of dating. We talked about having children a year later but I was still in college and still thinking about what career path I wanted to take. We definitely were not ready at that time.

Fast forward years later, he was established in his career and I took a path of being a school teacher. We got married and then we decided to start a family right away. We both sat down and decided that it was best if I became a stay-at-home mom. Both my mom and mother-in-law were stay-at-home moms and we wanted the same for our children.

We researched and planned and with the budget we made, it was doable. We started saving for "Sunny Days" as opposed to "Rainy Days". Starting a family should be considered sunny and not rainy. When I was first planning our budget I wish I has the financial planning tools and resources from Sun Trust Bank's Sunny Days website. They are making it so easy for families to plan for Sunny Days like starting a family or even growing one.

Now that we are trying for baby #2 it is time to plan and budget all over again for a growing family. I was planning on going back to teaching when my daughter started Pre-K but with another baby in the works I want to continue being a SAHM. The resources at the Sunny Days website helped me find out if it was doable again. I was able to go into the website and type in what we saved already, what our goal is and how many months we have. It instantly shows you how much you have to save up per month to reach the goal.

What "Sunny Days" are you saving for?
