Cinderella, Frozen Fever and #2MagicalMinutes with OralB

Thanks to The MOMs and OralB for inviting me to an exclusive screening of Frozen Fever and Cinderella. All opinions are 100% my own.

Cinderella was my favorite movie growing up. I remember my sister and I watching the VHS we had over and over. We watched it so much that we could repeat almost the entire movie and songs word for word. When I saw that they were remaking the movie I knew I had to see it! My daughter loves all of the Princesses so every time she saw the Cinderella commercial she yelled "Cinderella! I wanna see it in the movies!"

My daughter is Disney Princess obsessed and it all started with the Frozen movie. Anna is her favorite Princess and at any given minute you will see her with her little Anna doll in her hand. I cringe at the thought of that doll ever getting lost so I have a spare that she doesn't know about! :) It was quite fitting when I saw the they were showing the Frozen Fever short film right before the Cinderella movie.

When I got the email for The MOMs to attend an exclusive screening of the Cinderella movie I was super excited and knew I had to take my mom and daughter along with me. The girls were asked to dress in their favorite princess attire so I dressed up my toddler with her Belle tiara.

Before the screening we got to attend a little reception held by OralB. They showed us their amazing Disney Magic Timer app which I was very familiar with. When I was searching for tips on how to get a toddler to enjoy brushing their teeth everyone said to get the Disney Magic Timer. I tried it out and I have not had to fight once with my toddler about brushing her teeth ever since. With the app you enter the profile, scan the toothbrush and it will show you a #2MagicalMinutes clip of their favorite character on a smartphone or tablet.

OralB just came out with a line of Frozen toothbrushes and toothpaste so my toddler was thrilled to see them on the packaging. We got a nice little gift bag with some Frozen toothpaste and toothbrush.

After the reception into the movie theatre we went to watch the Frozen Fever Short Movie. All of the little girls and parents were glued to the screen. It was really cute and the song was amazing. I can't wait to see Frozen 2.

Then came the main attraction and we got to see the magical Cinderella movie. I loved how close to the animated movie it was and how beautiful the costumes and backgrounds were. My toddler enjoyed the movie so much that she actually sat still and really watched it. My mom and I both enjoyed the movie too so it was a win-win for all of us.

The Frozen Fever and Cinderella movies are playing right now at your favorite theater so make sure you go out and see it! You can learn more about the Disney Magic Timer and OralB's new products here.

Fleece Frozen Elsa Inspired Hat Tutorial

Like every little girl my daughter loves the Frozen movie. She has these little Elsa and Anna dolls that she takes everywhere with her. I wanted to make her Elsa and Anna hats that she could play with but that would also keep her warm if she wanted to wear them outside. I saw crocheted hats all over the place so I decided to create my own fleece tutorial to make it a bit warmer and softer.

Supplies:
  • 1/2 yard light yellow fleece fabric (You can probably get away with a 1/4 yard but I always buy extra)
  • scrap piece gold fabric
  • turquoise diamond sew on gem
  • fusible web
  • thread to match
  • sewing machine
  • 12" piece of turquoise ribbon.
  1. I used the instructions from Monkey See, Monkey Do to make the hat. I measured the circumference of my daughter's head and the length from below her eyebrows to the middle of the top of her head to get the measurement for the hat. I made two of the main hat and used one as the lining to make it double thickness and warmer.
  2. Draw three shapes like the picture below to make the bang shapes. Add a 1/4" seam all around. Cut two pieces of each shape out of the yellow fleece.
  3. Sew all around each shape except the bottom straight side. Trim seam allowances and turn each inside out.
  4. Make a pattern for the braid that is 2 1/4" x 11" long. Taper one of the ends to make more of a hair strip shape. Add a 1/4" seam allowance all around. Cut out 6 pieces of this pattern from the yellow fleece. Take two pieces and place right sides together. Sew all around using at 1/4" seam except for the straight top side. Trim seam allowances and turn inside out. Repeat two more times.
  5. Lay the three bang pieces like the picture below and sew in place.
  6. Stack up the three braid pieces staggering a little bit from the top flat side and sew in place.
  7. Pin bang pieces to the front middle of the hat. Pin braid to the right side of the hat. You can put it on your model to make sure to pin it right behind the right ear.
  8. Place lining hat on top of hat making sure to tuck in bang pieces and braid. Sew around the circumference of hat using a 1/4" seam and leaving a 3 inch opening. Turn inside out and whip stitch the opening closed.
  9. Flip up the bang pieces and sew in place with small hidden stitches. Braid the three pieces of the ponytail and secure with the ribbon making a bow. Trim excess from ribbon.
  10. To make the crown I downloaded the pattern from Britta Blvd. I resized it to be 5" by 3" keeping the aspect ratio. Trace the pattern onto the paper side of fusible web. Iron on the fusible web to a 6" by 3" piece of gold fabric. Cut out the crown. Peel off the paper backing and iron on to another piece of gold fabric. Cut out the crown from second piece of gold fabric.
  11. Sew on the turquoise gem to the middle of the crown. Sew on the crown to the Elsa Hat.

Two Piece Frozen Elsa Pajamas Tutorial

Now that the weather is getting cooler I decided to put away the t-shirt nightgowns I made during the summer. I wanted to make a two piece version to keep her warmer during the fall weather. I also used some old thick black t-shirts that my husband donated to my fabric stash.

Top
I used the tutorial from Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom with some adjustments. First I added several inches to the sleeve to make it long enough to hit my daughter's elbow. Then I several more inches to the bottom of the bodice to go a couple of inches below my daughter's waist.

Bottom
Follow the instructions for my toddler pajama pants tutorial.

Decoration
You are going to need cream, yellow, pink and light blue glitter tulip soft fabric pant. Follow the instructions for my pumpkin stencil to freezer paper stencil tutorial. I also used a snowflake stencil for the bottoms and to decorate the shirt.
