Berry Valentines Day Fruit Skewers


I love crafting and creating cute holiday themed outfits and treats for my daughter like my "Bow"Tiful Valentine and Valentines Day Shirt. I also love creating holiday themed recipes and treats to continue with the festivities the entire day. Last year we made special Valentines Day Pancakes and Toddler Friendly Valentine Cookie Bars.

Since my daughter loves fruit I decided to present it in a way that would be perfect for the day of hearts and love instead of the standard bowl of fruit that I usually give her. I also wanted to make it fun for her to eat.


I went out to my local discount store and found so many Valentine decorations. I picked up some cupcake wrappers that came with these cute heart picks and some glittery hearts that we could tape to the windows. I thought the picks would make festive little skewers and the wrappers would be the perfect little holders.


I always have fruit in the fridge especially strawberries which are my daughter's favorite. I took out some blackberries, strawberries and blueberries and picked though them to find the perfect ones. I cleaned them and then cut the strawberries in half.

I wanted the red of the strawberries to pop so I skewered them in between the deep colors of the blackberries and blueberries. Then I popped about four of them into the little cupcake wrappers.


As soon as I gave them to my daughter she said "Ooohhh hearts!" I took one and showed her how to eat it. (Make sure to supervise your kids eating them with the skewers. The tips were not super pointy but you never know.) She gobbled them all up and started playing with the skewers and counting them.

Kid Friendly Gluten Free Products For Less at Walmart

I have heard about gluten free products all over the place and always thought it was just for people who couldn't digest wheat products like bread and pasta. I never knew the dangers of hidden gluten ingredients in products until I was talking to one of the moms at my daughter's dance class.

I brought in these organic strawberry bars that my daughter loves to give out to the little girls in her class. I asked the moms if I could give them out to their daughters before the class was over and one of the moms asked if they were gluten free. She explained to me how her daughter was gluten intolerant. She said her daughter gets sad sometimes when other kids her age could have things that she can't. I quickly put the bars away as I didn't want her daughter to feel left out and told her I would bring in some gluten free snacks the next time.

While I was shopping at Walmart last weekend I noticed they were having a gluten free event. There were little sample carts all over the grocery section with different products to try that were gluten free. I was so surprised to see things like burritos, pizza, cookies and bars. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to try out some different products that I could take to my daughter's dance class.


My absolute favorite was the Van's PB & Strawberry and PB & Blueberry bars. I loved how they tasted just like the strawberry bars but with the added flavor of peanut butter. I bought both of the varieties and let my daughter try them out. All she kept saying was "yummy!" and gobbled it up. I asked her if she wanted to share them with her friends at her dance class and she yelled "Yes!".




It was great picking them up at Walmart because they were very affordable. With it being such a huge store they carried a big assortment of gluten free products from frozen entrees to snacks and desserts. Can Do Duck: The Musical Fun for the Whole Family!

I was invited to attend Can Do Duck: The Musical and was given complementary tickets. Regardless, I only recommend products, shows or services I use personally and believe will be a good fit for my readers. All opinions are 100% my own.


I was so excited to attend Can Do Duck: The Musical with my daughter, sister and niece! It was so exciting to take them into the city to watch a live show. My daughter has gone to a couple of short live shows and loved them so I knew she would love Can Do Duck: The Musical.


Can Do Duck is a really cute and motivational musical for kids and families. Their big message is believing in yourself by saying "I can". The musical was based on the successful children's book series "The Can Do Duck". It is a story that follows two families, a human one and a duck one as they learn to try new things and work as a team to accomplish them. 

I have seen my daughter countless times tell me "I can't do it!" and I always reply "Yes you can! Just try again." I see that big smile on her face when she finally accomplishes what she wanted to do. Seeing this musical is a great way for kids to learn that they can do what they wish to do just by saying "I can".


There were fun crafts for the kids to do right before the show which was great for us since we got there early to pick up our tickets. The staff were so sweet and helped my daughter and niece create a duck in a pond with markers, crayons, glue sticks and paper plates.


I was a little bit apprehensive when we got to our seats because I didn't know if my daughter would sit still for the hour long musical but she did! She was so into the actors and the cute duck costumes they wore. She yelled out when they asked the kids for input and flapped her arms and danced along when she got cued to. I love how interactive and engaging the show was for the kids. I have to admit that as an adult I was just as entertained as the kids.







When the show was over the kids got to jump on stage and "swim", "fly" and "walk" like a duck with the actors. There was also a Q & A where the kids and adults got to learn more about the show and the background of how it became to be. The director of the musical is Arielle which is the daughter of the author of the Can Do Duck Book Series. Ducktor Morty M.D., the author explained how he wrote the book when Arielle was just 8 and together with her sisters they illustrated the book at that young age. 

My daughter who is 2 1/2 and my niece who is 3 loved the show! The musical is recommended for ages 3 - 11 but my sister and I both enjoyed it as well so I feel that it is great for all ages.
