Make Your Own "Kinder" Like Surprise Eggs + Printable

If you have a toddler you probably know what Kinder Surprise eggs are. They are these hollow chocolate eggs that have surprise toys inside of them. My daughter discovered them on YouTube and had been hooked on watching them. I have to admit that I get caught watching them too sometimes!

I wanted to find some for my daughter but then realized that they are banned in the US. The reasoning is that the US has a ban of toys being embedded into candy. My creative gears started turning and I decided to attempt to make some for my daughter as a special surprise on Easter.

I bought some silicone egg molds, semisweet chocolate chips and white chocolate chips. I purchased some really small toys to go inside the eggs and got some foil to wrap around the eggs. I wanted the eggs to look legit to a toddler so I created a printable that you can wrap around the eggs.

The first step is to melt the semisweet chocolate and the white chocolate in separate bowls. I used a double boiler to melt the chocolates. I took a silicone brush and brushed a layer of semisweet chocolate onto the egg molds. I put it into the fridge and let it harden. Then I repeated the steps one more time for a total of two layers. Repeat the steps one more time with the white chocolate.

While the eggs where hardening for the last time I took out some aluminum foil and cut it into  "9 by 7 " rectangles. I printed out the wraps and cut them out.

Then I took the eggs out of the fridge and popped them out of the molds. I took a small frying pan and heated it up a little and turned off the heat. I put the toy in one of the halves and then took the other half and put it cut side up in the pan so the edges could melt a little. I took the two halves of the egg and placed them together to seal. I put them back in the fridge to harden the seal.

Finally I took the foil and wrapped it around the completed egg. Then I took the printed wrap trimmed the top bottom and sides to fit perfectly and taped it around.

Levana Helps This First Time Mom Do More with a Toddler Around!

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Levana. The opinions and text are all mine.

I remember as a first time mom of a newborn I was always carrying her around or keeping and eye on her. I remember running to the bathroom when she napped and waiting for my husband to come home from work to take a shower. It's nerve wreaking when you have a newborn or infant or a child of any age because you want to make sure they are safe every minute of the day.

Now that I think back I realized how much easier things would have been if I had a baby monitor like the ones from Levana. Since they only sell baby monitors they continue to make changes and find new technologies to make them even better as time goes by. I got to try out the Ayden Baby Video Monitor and was first of all impressed at how parent friendly it is. The buttons are easy to press and configuration is super easy. I love that the viewing monitor and camera are wireless so I don't have to worry about cords all around. I love the 48 hour battery life when on Peep mode. The Ayden is so smart that it knows to go into sleep mode until it hears a "peep" from the child and it turns on to show you what is going on.

Now that my "baby" is a toddler I love to use the Ayden to watch her play while I cook. I can make sure she is not getting into something she isn't supposed to and with the Talk to Baby™ Two-Way Intercom I can communicate with her without stopping what I am doing.

I do a lot of my blogging work when she is asleep for the night so I love that I can set the monitor next to me and get to watch her without disturbing her. Toddlers are unpredictable so I am glad I have piece of mind that she is safe in bed while I work in the living room. When my daughter is asleep I love the three soothing lullabies I can play, the night vision and Smart LED indicator ring that tells me what is going on with a quick glance of the colors.

Spaghetti Squash Casserole + Bounty with Dawn Easy Clean Up

This is a sponsored post for SheSpeaks/Bounty.

Casseroles are one of my favorite things to eat but not my favorite things to clean. I love the roasted, brown, crispy edges of a casserole but when it's time to clean up I sometimes regret making the dish! When I saw the amazing combination of the Bounty with Dawn the first thing I thought about was making my favorite Low Carb Casserole.

After seeing the commercial for the first time I really wanted to put it to the test and see how well it worked with my Spaghetti Squash Casserole. When I got the box from SheSpeaks/Bounty I have to say that it was the coolest packaging ever! It looks like a real kitchen with little messes I could just pull up and clean. Inside the refrigerator was the Bounty with Dawn and inside the back was a few kitchen tools!

I went to Walmart to get my ingredients for the casserole and checked out the paper towel section. I was pleased that the Bounty with Dawn was easy to find at Walmart. When I got home I made my casserole and put it in the oven.

It was time to clean up so I opened up the Bounty with Dawn and wet it to activate the Dawn. I rubbed it and wrung it out to get lots of suds and cleaned my plate and then the baking dish. I was truly amazed that one little sheet cleaned the entire plate and dish! I was was so surprised how much suds was in one paper towel.

Spaghetti Squash Casserole

  • 1 jar of light spaghetti sauce
  • 1 cup Italian blend shredded cheese

DIY Glitter Rabbit and Pom Pom Shirt + Stencil Printable

My favorite way to dress up daughter during the holidays is to make different t-shirts for her using iron-ons or stencils. It's so easy to buy a plain shirt for a couple of bucks and just print out a stencil to paint with. I have done tons of shirts for my daughter by printing out a stencil and tracing it onto some freezer paper. Then I take the freezer paper and iron it on and then use some fabric paint to color it in.

I wanted to try something different so I decided to experiment with some glitter glue and fashion glitter in place of the standard fabric paint.

First I printed out the printable. Then I placed it on a table and taped down some freezer paper, paper side up. I used a pencil to trace the outline of the rabbit. I took an exacto knife and I cut out the rabbit and trimmed around the stencil. Next I ironed on the stencil to the middle of the shirt and brushed on a nice coat of the glitter glue.

I quickly sprinkled on the glitter until it was fully coated. I placed some wax paper on top of the glitter and used the glitter tube to roll it on top to make sure the glitter was stuck onto the glue well. Then I and let it sit for about 5 hours.

After that I poured off the excess glitter into a piece of folded paper and put it back into the glitter tube. I carefully peeled off the stencil.

I took a white pom pom and used fabric glue to glue it into place where the tail would go. Allow the fabric glue to try completely before putting on the shirt.

I am not sure how well the glitter will hold up to washing so I recommend turning the shirt inside out and hand washing, being careful not to agitate the part with the glitter. I would also allow it to air dry.

Will you be DIY'ing anything this Easter?

GoodNites* TRU-FIT* Gives Big Kids Big Confidence

“I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for GoodNites* TRU-FIT*. I received a promotional item to thank me for participating.”

I remember how excited I was almost 6 years ago when my sister told me she was pregnant. I had always wanted to be an aunt so I was thrilled! I was never around babies before my nephew so I pretty much learned about taking care of a baby by practicing with him. When my daughter was born he became really attached to her and there has been a special bond between the both of them ever since. I am not sure that I will have more children so I am  happy that she has a cousin close enough to be like her brother.

My niece is 6 months older than my daughter so my nephew has taken the role of watching over
"the girls." He is all boy, tough and rugged and is like a bodyguard to them when we are all at the park. Being a tough little cookie makes it embarrassing for him when he has nighttime bed wetting. My sister tries to be as comforting and as understanding as possible but he still gets upset when it happens. I was so thrilled to hear about the GoodNites* TRU-FIT* that I immediately told my sister about them.

While researching on overnight bed wetting I was surprised to hear that 1 in 6 kids ages 4-12 wet the bed overnight. It is also common for them to have low confidence and not want to do activities like sleep overs. I love that the GoodNites* TRU-FIT* are real underwear that can be machine washed and have an absorbent insert that keeps kids dry overnight. They come in size S/M and L/XL for both girls and boys that covers from 38lbs to 100lbs. I love the cute stripes, designs and colors they come in to truly feel like they are just like regular underwear.

My nephew was super excited to try the GoodNites* TRU-FIT* and told my sister that he was happy he got to wear big boy underwear at night too.

I try to get my daily walks in first thing in the morning. If I don't I find myself getting distracted and working on my to do list for the day and the exercise gets thrown to the back burner and almost forgotten. After long nights of working from home I need my favorite McCafé coffee to give me that extra pep to walk around with my toddler.

As I was doing some grocery shopping at Walmart I hit my favorite sugar-free syrup section and bam right in front of my eyes were bags of McCafé coffee! I got my favorite which was the French Vanilla and was super excited to try it out. McCafé coffee has always been my favorite because it is so smooth and made from the premium 100% Arabica Beans. They also come in eight different flavors so you have so many to choose from.

To be extra ready in the morning I decided to make my daughter and I mini-muffins the night before. This way I didn't have to wait to fight with my picky daughter to eat breakfast first. I made them mommy and me my making hers with a few mini chocolate chips and mines with some chia seeds. I put them in little baggies and then took them out as soon as I woke up in the morning so that they would get warmed up a bit. Then I prepared my McCafé French Vanilla coffee with a tiny bit of heavy cream and some erythritol and put it in my cute purple thermos. I took my daughter's thermos and put some warm milk in it. I put the baggies and thermos in my mommy bag and out we went for our walk.

My daughter was so excited that we got to eat breakfast outside and loved being like mommy with her own thermos. I was so happy to be able to just get up and go and get that workout out of the way. Exercising first thing in the morning gives me the extra pep and energy I need to get through my busy long days with my sweet toddler.

Creamy Vanilla Bean "Milkshake" with Yogurt Dipped Strawberries

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #MullerMoment #CollectiveBias

So I am in this weight loss journey for the long haul and what has absolutely worked for me is making over some of my favorite food indulgences! I found a bread alternative that I like and I substitute zucchini in all of my pasta dishes. My biggest sweet craving is ice cream, especially milkshakes! I have been wanting to make a milkshake for the longest time but haven't really found anything that came close.

While I was out to Walmart to finish up on the toys and decorations for my daughter's Easter basket I headed to the grocery section to check out what I could use to make-over my milkshakes. I searched the yogurt section and noticed the  Müller® Ice Cream Inspired Yogurt. I love yogurt and ice cream so this was the perfect combination. They come in three flavors: Vanilla Bean, Mint Chocolate Chip and Raspberry Chocolate chip.

As soon as I put my toddler to bed that night I decided to use my "me"time to experiment on making a milkshake. I wanted a nice creamy vanilla shake to round out my snack I took out some fresh strawberries and paired it with the raspberry chocolate chip.

First I took a container of the Vanilla bean and popped it into the freezer. I let it freeze for about 15 minutes. I scooped out the entire container into my mini blender. It really did look like really ice cream!

Then I took half a cup of unsweetened coconut milk and pour it in with the yogurt.

I blended it until it was rich and creamy and placed it inside of this cute milk glass jar and topped it with a fun striped straw!

I had some delicious fresh strawberries so I took the raspberry chocolate chip Müller® Ice Cream Inspired Yogurt and thinned it out with a tiny bit of coconut milk. Then I poured it into a little container and used it to dip my strawberries. It was the perfect combination with the milk shake!

I took my milkshake and strawberries to the couch, put up my feet and watched my favorite reality shows that I DVR'ed. Pure bliss, and I didn't have to break my diet to do it!
