Weight Loss Journey: Week 14

I lost 1 pounds for a total weight loss of 36 pounds.

I stuck to my plan again without any cheats or any temptation. I planned my whole week and did a lot of food shopping to have my keto fridge and pantry full. I cooked a lot of my favorite keto meals and have even experimented with keto chicken tenders and broccoli with cheese sauce. Everything tastes so good to me on keto that cheating is not even on my mind. Saturday it was my niece's birthday and it was time to put my willpower to test. There was pizza, soda, cookies, pastries and cupcakes right in my face for hours. Family and friends offering me carby things over and over and me giving them the same response. "I can't have that." My husband and I then ventured outside of the party venue to find something to eat. They only had a pizza place so we went in and got creative. They were super accommodating and made me a grilled chicken Caesar salad and made my husband grilled chicken and onions with cheese on top.

I only got to go out to walk a couple of times this week. It was a very busy week for me and I was busy organizing and cleaning my entire apartment. We were making room for new Christmas gifts so the toddler and I sorted out all of her toys with a few big bags to donate. My husband was off on vacation this week and we spent a lot of time taking out our daughter and bonding. He is off again this week so we probably will be taking her out a lot again. I am still not sure if I want to go to the gym or exercise at home. I have been collecting a lot of at-home workouts so I will see if I cancel my gym membership or not.

  • Take vitamins and probiotics.
  • Get in 8000 daily steps.
  • Strength training workouts at least 4 times this week.
  • Go to gym or exercise video at least 3 days this week.
  • Plan a keto Christmas dinner.

How do you fight temptations at family events?

Fall Weight Loss: Week 13

I lost 1.4 pounds for a total weight loss of 35 pounds. I did my monthly measurements and I loss a little under 10 inches for the month of November.

I am so happy to say that this is the first time I didn't cheat on a major eating holiday. I stayed on my eating plan this week and only went out to eat for two dinner's. I have been doing well with planning ahead and making more servings of dinner to eat leftovers the next day. This has helped since I have to sometimes make nine different meals for my husband, daughter and I in one day! It helps to cook less by eating leftovers. For Thanksgiving Day my mother-in-law made turkey and then I made my low carb mash, low carb mac and cheese, brussels sprouts and low carb pumpkin cheesecake. I was so full and so satisfied and stayed on plan.

I went out walking six days this week and took really long walks. I am really enjoying taking my daughter on longer and longer walks. I always worry that she will complain that she is tired but she hasn't yet. We had some really nice days this week so with her cousins over from Thanksgiving break we took them to the park a few times this week too. My in-laws stayed over my house for a few days out of the week so I didn't get to go to the gym at all. On Saturday it was cold and rainy so I didn't plan on walking. Then my daughter asked if we were going on a walk and I told her "later" hoping she'd forget. Once I said "later" she said "Yay, I love walking with my mommy!". Once she said that it motivated me to walk so the sneakers and jackets came out. We walked in the rain and she loved it! Sunday we took a family walk as the husband joined us on his day off.

  • Take vitamins and probiotics.
  • Get in 8000 daily steps.
  • Strength training workouts at least 4 times this week.
  • Go to gym at least 3 days this week.
  • Plan whole week of meals including leftovers.

Boosting My Weight Loss Journey with REM-Fit

**I received the products below free for my review. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be a good fit for my readers. All opinions are 100% my own.

An activity tracker has really helped me become more active. It was the competitor in me that wanted to beat my friend's steps. Being the only one left that continued to use a tracker I had no one to compete with and my activity lessened. Last week I didn't even feel like exercising the entire week and kept busy with other things.

When I got my REM-Fit Active band in the mail I was so excited to have some new fitness gear that I went on a walk to try it out the very next day. I quickly learned that the REM-Fit Active was going to give me more of a challenge than I thought. It doesn't just count steps but it counts distance, calories burned, ActivePoints, SleepPoints and a 360 LifeScore. The challenge comes with the ActivePoints which are given with the intensity and duration of your activity. When I saw that my walks were not giving me many ActivePoints I stepped it up by doing some TaeBo! Wanting more ActivePoints is really motivating me to step up my exercise game so I am planning on hitting the gym this week.

After an active and long day I was excited to try my REM-Fit Rest 400 Series pillow. It is easily adjustable to your preference of thickness by removing or adding the little balls shown in the .gif before. It was kind of heavy and big so I wasn't sure how comfortable it would be. Then I woke up after seven and a half hours of deep sleep. I woke up with no aches and pains in my shoulders or neck like I have before. Sleeping over 7 hours is huge for me since I go to sleep so late and then have to wake up early with my little preschooler. If you wake up achy or have trouble getting more than 7 hours of sleep I highly recommend this pillow.

Fall Weight Loss: Week 12

I lost 1.1 pounds for a total weight loss of 33.6 pounds.

I stayed on plan the entire week and only ate out for one meal. I have been doing really well with the meal planning and have been trying to use up my food stock. I am still loving the oopsie rolls this week and made a big batch to eat with sandwiches. For the meal I ate out I had a beef shish kebab from a street vendor. Then we treated my daughter and nephew to some fast food. Big mistake because they gave me a regular coke instead of diet! I took one sip and knew right away and had to change it. About fifteen minutes later I had the biggest headache I had in a long time. This experience is enough to make me never want a cheat day.

I went on walks almost every day this week and even took an extra walk while doing laundry just to track some extra steps and points on my new REM-Fit Active tracker. Walking is becoming so enjoyable for me now and I love the quality time my toddler and I spend outside together. We talk about the trees and the leaves and the birds and it's fun explaining to her how everything works. I decided to get even more points on my tracker by doing some TaeBo. I asked my daughter to join me and she became my workout buddy. I was amazed that I could do everything and the workout was perfect because there wasn't too much jumping around or noise making for the neighbors downstairs. One of my legs has been bothering me for a week now and the TaeBo heightened the pain the next day. I took a break from exercising and walking that day and then was back to myself after that. I still haven't done any strength training this week so I am going to make that a priority this week. I am also going to try to hit the gym at least 2 days this week.

  • Take vitamins and probiotics.
  • Get in 8000 daily steps.
  • Strength training workouts at least 4 times this week.
  • Go to gym at least 2 days this week
  • Stay on plan even on Thanksgiving!

To indulge or not to indulge? What will you be eating this Thanksgiving?

Fall Weight Loss: Week 11

I lost 1.2 pounds for a total weight loss of 33 pounds.

I just didn't feel like exercising this week so I spent all of my energy homeschooling my daughter and getting lots of blog work and promoting done. My daughter is going through a stage of not wanting to do "Learning Time" so I have so sit with her and make sure she does it right. I also spent a lot of time promoting my posts this week. I never knew how much work went into promoting a Holiday Gift Guide!

I stayed on plan the entire week and enjoyed eating some Oopsie Rolls with my meals. I was eating some almond flour minute buns for a while but decided to give the oopsie rolls another chance. The oopsie rolls are less carbs and calories and so fluffy and delicious! I went out to the movies to watch Peanuts with my husband and daughter and brought in some Moon Cheese and pecans to snack on. Then we went out to Texas Roadhouse and I had a delicious steak and salad. It has been so easy for me to stay on plan with Keto eating because there are so many yummy foods you can have.

I didn't do any formal exercise at home this week. I went out for a walk on Thursday with tons of shopping and running around that my feet hurt when I got home. On Friday I ran around with my niece, nephew and daughter in Legoland to check out the Star Wars Display. Then I was so excited to get my REM Active activity tracker so I decided to test it out with a walk with my daughter on Sunday.

  • Take vitamins and probiotics.
  • Get in 8000 daily steps.
  • Start TaeBo and strength training workouts at least 4 times this week.
  • Test at least two Thanksgiving keto recipes.

How do you motivate yourself to exercise when you don't want to?

Wordless Wednesday: Autumn Walk

Fall Weight Loss: Week 10

This week I lost 3.6 pounds for a total weight loss of 31.2 pounds. I went back into the archive of this blog to see how I was doing two months into my weight loss journey last year. When I saw the total pounds lost in two months I was shocked that it was the same exact amount that I lost last week which made 2 months into my current weight loss journey! I remember my journey last year and doing the drastic Dr. Oz Weight Loss Plan and Skinny Jane diet. While I did lose a lot of weight doing those diets I feel that Keto is so much easier for me. I am enjoying the foods so much and don't have to kill myself working out like I did last year. #LovingKeto!

I did a huge shopping haul at Costco to get some quality meats. We are trying to eat only meats that are steroid, hormone and antibiotic free. We also only eat uncured bacon which has helped me tremendously with the amount of sodium we are consuming. Buying food like this can look very costly when I think about my food bill before. It tends to even out though since I cook almost every meal at home and we don't eat out a lot.

This week I took a lot of walks with the toddler. I am enjoying these mild fall weather days and want to get as much walks in as possible before the weather gets colder and the snow starts showing up. I love keeping my toddler active and she enjoys the mommy and me time outside which is a change to our normal routine. I pushed the limit on how much she could walk and she really surprised me but not once telling me she was tired. It also helps me  when I bring her home tired so that she can take a nice nap while I cook dinner. Along with our walks I did some TaeBo videos I found on YouTube and some strength training workouts 3 times this week.

  • Take vitamins and probiotics.
  • Get in 8000 daily steps.
  • Continue TaeBo and strength training workouts at least 4 times this week.
  • Test at least two Thanksgiving keto recipes.

How do you keep your kids active in the Fall?

Fall Weight Loss: Week 9

This week I lost 6.4 pounds for a total weight loss of 27.6 pounds. It was an easy week for me and I was glad to be back home the entire week to easily cook in my kitchen. I am having fun in the kitchen keto-fing everything I want to eat. I still need to work on making time to exercise so that will be my main focus this week.

Although I had access to a nice kitchen and some of my keto ingredients in Texas there is nothing like cooking in your own kitchen. You know were everything is, you have your own gadgets and it is so much easier. I have not felt deprived yet in this way of eating because I can find an alternative to almost anything I have an urge to eat. This week our favorite recipe was the hard shelled "taco" I found on YouTube. They were so good and tasted better than hard shelled corn tacos. This will be a weekly staple in our kitchen.

I did one day of exercise this week and it was a boxing workout that I found on YouTube. It was fun to do with my new Reflex bag and punching gloves. My daughter wanted to box like her mommy so I set out her Sponge Bob punching bag and it was so cute how she tried to follow the video. It makes me feel good that she likes to exercise like I do. I just have to make it a point to exercise more often. I had a nice long walk on Friday and on Saturday we walked a ton while Trick or Treating. My sister kept asking me if I was tired and I kept telling her no let's keep going. I think the adults would have kept on but the kids were pretty much done when we stopped.

  • Take vitamins and probiotics.
  • Get in 7500 daily steps.
  • Incorporate a boxing workout and strength training workouts at least 4 times this week.

How far do you walk when you go trick-or-treating with the kids?

Fall Weight Loss: Week 8

This week I gained 1 pound for an adjusted loss of  21.2 pounds. I just came back from my trip to Texas so I kind of knew there might be a gain because I was away from my normal routine. It bummed me out because even with all of the temptation of Texas food and barbecue I stayed on plan and was super active. Once I saw that gain I took out my tape measure and measured away. When I calculated my measurements from last month I got a total lost of 14.2 inches! I will take inches over pounds anyway :)

During my trip to Texas I stayed on plan everyday. We were staying with friends so the first thing we did was go to the supermarket to get ingredients to stay on plan. I went to a supermarket called Sprout and it had everything I needed like Kerrygold butter, almond flour, stevia and so much more. We made breakfast at my friend's house and stuck with eggs, cheese and turkey bacon. Our friends grilled us steak and burgers and then I tried brisket and smoked wings at some awesome BBQ Texas restaurants.

I had planned to exercise at the gym in the community center but with our days packed with activities to do I didn't have time to. I ran around the backyard with my daughter while we chased bubbles. We also walked a ton around the malls, an amazing Dallas Aqarium and the LEGOLAND at Dallas! Unfortuntely my FitBit ran out of battery and I forgot to bring my charger but I know I surpassed my goal of 7500 steps a day by a bunch.

  • Drink Bullet Proof Coffee for breakfast at least 3 times this week.
  • Take vitamins and probiotics.
  • Get in 7500 daily steps.
  • Incorporate a boxing workout and strength training workouts at least 4 times this week.

Do you stay on plan when on vacation or do you let yourself splurge?
